Fire Departments

Penn Township has five volunteer fire departments: Claridge, Grandview, Harrison City, Level Green, and Paintertown, which provide fire and emergency services for the community.

These organizations depend upon public donations to remain open and operational. In 2013 the Penn Township Commissioners amended the township code to provide a 1% real estate tax to be distributed between the fire departments.

Unlike some cities, these fire departments are not totally funded by your local taxes, so please be generous during their annual fund drives. Also, these organizations depend on trained volunteers to staff their organizations, and they are constantly recruiting new volunteers.

Ambulance Service       

Located near the Pennsylvania Turnpike Maintenance Building, Rescue 6 is centrally located in the township in order to provide emergency and routine medical transportation. Rescue 6 is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support ambulance provider.

Rescue 6 is a nonprofit organization made up of professional personnel that relies on donations from the public in the form of a subscription plan. Offered each year between January 1 and December 31, new and renewal subscription plans offer residents in its service area the benefit of membership.
